MEGA is a private desktop application used by its owner on their own computer, with their own Google accounts. It is not offered to the public.
Google data the app can access
- Gmail: reading, sending, replying to and organizing mail.
- Google Contacts: reading and editing contacts, and reading the "other contacts" list.
- Google Calendar: reading calendars and events, and creating and editing events.
How the data is used
The data is used only to provide the app's own features to its owner: sorting, prioritizing, searching and summarizing mail, drafting and sending messages, and managing contacts and calendar events.
Where the data is stored
Messages, attachments and the data derived from them are stored on the owner's computer. Google sign-in tokens are stored in the operating system's credential store. MEGA has no server of its own and does not send this data to its developer.
Who the data is shared with
Mail is processed by an AI model running locally on the owner's computer. If the owner adds an Anthropic API key, the content of selected messages may also be sent to Anthropic's API for features such as classifying difficult messages and drafting replies. That is the only third party involved. The data is not sold, is not used for advertising, and is not used to train generalized AI models by MEGA.
Google API Services User Data Policy
MEGA's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting data and revoking access
The owner can delete the app's local data at any time and can revoke its access from their Google Account permissions page.
